Who can join

Good work and clear rights matter more than a famous name.

BENARI considers first projects as well as established catalogues. Every applicant must be able to explain who created the work and who controls each element.

01

Emerging author

A first book or independent project.

02

Independent publisher

A ready catalogue seeking another distribution channel.

03

Translator

A credited translation with rights to both the translation and the original.

04

Lecturer or researcher

Courses, seminars, lectures or research in audio or text.

05

Anthology editor

A collection backed by permission from every contributor.

06

Narrator

A performance that forms an independent part of the edition.

07

Archive rights holder

Lawful authority to return manuscripts and recordings to circulation.

08

Creative organisation

A publisher, studio or collective with verified authority.

Seven steps

A visible route from profile to publication.

Complete each stage in order. Your account shows what is required and what happens next.

  1. 01

    Create your profile

Add your legal and public names, choose an individual or organisation profile, and enable two-factor authentication.

  2. 02

    Verify your details

Confirm identity, tax residence and a bank account owned by the contracting party.

  3. 03

    Document the rights

Collect evidence for the text, recording, performance, translation, cover, music and other elements.

  4. 04

    Review the agreement

Check the licence scope, territories, languages, formats, term, royalty formula and withdrawal process.

  5. 05

    Prepare the edition

Upload final files, a compliant cover, an optional sample, supporting documents and complete metadata.

  6. 06

    Complete moderation

Technical, metadata, editorial and legal reviews may result in a clear request for corrections.

  7. 07

    Publish and follow reports

Review the public card, monitor eligible use and sales, and receive statements and payouts.

Before uploading

Prepare the person, the rights and the edition.

A complete submission moves faster because the editorial team can verify it without chasing missing facts.

01

Profile and verification

  • Legal name matching your identity or company documents
  • Public name and a short biography for the author page
  • Current address, contact email and country of tax residence
  • Bank account owned by you or your organisation
  • Directors and beneficial owners where applicable
  • Two-factor authentication enabled

BENARI provides statements about payments and withholding, but does not file your tax return.

02

Rights to every element

  • TextAuthorship, co-authorship, inheritance and previous transfers.
  • Recording and performanceRights to the recording and the narrator's permission to distribute the performance.
  • TranslationPermission for both the translation and the original work.
  • VisualsCover, illustrations, photographs, fonts and design elements.
  • Music and soundLicences for music, effects and third-party recordings.
  • Synthetic voiceClear permission for the specific voice and compliance with its provider's terms.

The publication package

Upload a final edition, not a working draft.

Check the whole reading or listening experience before submission. Replacing the main file after publication creates a new version and triggers moderation again.

01

Audiobook

Correct track order and chapter names, complete files, stable volume, no clipped endings, and filenames that clearly show sequence.

02

Ebook

A valid structure tested on phone, tablet and an e-ink device, using only the final edited text.

03

Alongside the work

A compliant cover, an introductory sample where provided, rights documents and complete metadata.

Four checks

Moderation is a process, not a silent verdict.

If the team finds a problem, you receive a specific reason and can correct the material, provide a document or appeal.

01

Technical

Files open correctly, sound and structure meet requirements, and no defects are present.

02

Metadata

The card is accurate and genre and category are selected correctly.

03

Editorial

The content matches its description and does not mislead the audience.

04

Legal

Authorship, third-party rights, special categories and synthetic voice are reviewed.

3-7working days for a standard submission

up to~10days for translations, co-authorship and other complex rights cases

The agreement

You remain an independent rights holder.

The relationship is not employment, a legal partnership or an agency service. The licence is non-exclusive unless the agreement expressly says otherwise.

Check before signing

Formats, languages, territories, term, moderation rules, third-party warranties, royalty formula, reporting, withholding, withdrawal and final accounting.

What BENARI may do

Host, transmit and protect files; sell access; run promotions; process refunds; and support customers within the licence.

The agreement controls

This guide explains the process but does not replace the signed agreement. Read the complete agreement before accepting it.

Transparent accounting

Royalty is calculated from net receipts.

Net receipts are the amount actually received by BENARI after the applicable deductions for the transaction.

Customer price−consumption tax−channel fee−refunds=net receipts

Author royalty80%of net receipts

Channels differ

Website and app channels can have different commissions. Statements separate them so the calculation can be traced.

Subscription use

Eighty percent of net subscription receipts forms a royalty pool distributed by eligible listening and reading. Samples and suspicious or mechanical activity do not count.

Free podcasts

A free podcast does not generate direct royalty; it helps new audiences discover the creator.

Statements and payouts

Every figure should lead back to a transaction.

45

days

Indicative payment timing after the monthly period closes.

£50

minimum

Smaller balances carry forward to the next period.

3

currencies

GBP, EUR and USD at launch, by bank transfer to a verified account.

30

days

To question a closed statement through the creator account.

Questions before applying

The practical details.

Do I transfer ownership of my work?

No. You remain the rights holder and grant a limited licence. It is non-exclusive unless the agreement expressly states otherwise.

Can I apply with my first book?

Yes. BENARI considers emerging authors. Quality, a clear chain of rights and readiness to work openly with readers are the central requirements.

Can I submit a translation?

Yes, when you can document both the right to the translation and permission to use the original work.

How long does moderation take?

The guide gives 3-7 working days for standard material and up to about 10 days for more complex rights cases. These are estimates, not guaranteed deadlines.

What happens if something is missing?

You receive a specific reason and can correct the material, provide evidence or appeal. Complex rights history may pause publication until the documents are complete.

How are payouts made?

Monthly by bank transfer to the verified contracting party, normally around 45 days after the period closes and once the £50 threshold is reached.

Your work. Your name. A clear process.
